In 2010 Ben Barry created the design work for the Facebook f8 conference with a variety of techniques including generative programming for the projections used during events and at the aftershow party. The most impressive thing is that he learnt Processing just for the project showing just how easy it is to learn and apply to real projects.

For the 2011 conference the entire graphic system was developed using Processing.

I first saw the work of karlssonwilker several years ago and was especially taken aback with their orb identity for MTV. Unfortunately I forgot to bookmark it at the time and never managed to find the project again although the memory resonated with me and was one of the inspirations behind the logo I created for Nitro Digital. I restumbled across the project today and am pleased to be able to share it with you. Enjoy.

I’ve recently been learning the Programming language Processing and the more I use it the more excited I am by it’s possibilities, it’s refreshing to work with a language specifically designed for people that think in a visual way. However it’s easy to get bogged down in technical details and techniques and loose sight of what you can achieve with it, the exhibition section of the Processing website is a great place to see examples of how it can be applied to real world projects. This collection of works show how it could be used in a design brief.
